Olivia Bee is a photographer from Portland, Oregon. My pictures are on the bottom and her pictures are on the top.
Course Goals and Achievements:
Throughout this course, I've made significant progress toward several of my goals. I've improved my grasp of angles and learned how to use my own camera settings. The dozen photo challenge and lectures encouraged me to experiment and gain confidence in my technical and creative decisions.
I've also made progress in developing a more professional portfolio and improving my creative approach in photography. I'm getting better at being deliberate with composition and experimenting with new ideas, which has helped me begin to establish a personal style. Finally, I've gained a better understanding of the fundamentals of photography, which I'll continue to improve as I shoot more.
This is the best photo I took for the assignment because it really captures the same feeling and style as Olivia Bee’s work. The soft colors and the way the trees are in shadow give it a dreamy, calm mood. It looks like a real moment, not something staged, which is exactly what Olivia Bee does in her photos.
The lighting and the peaceful, natural scene remind me a lot of the kind of images she’s known for. It feels like something she would have taken, which is why I think it’s the strongest match.
